Research Interests

Dr. Raman has been actively involved in research involving abdominal imaging and cross sectional interventional radiology. His research interests are also focus in developing and improving techniques in Tumor Ablation and general interests in liver, pancreas and GU tract imaging.

Current research projects
I. TUMOR ABLATION:
•   Minimizing collateral damage using fluid and CO2
•   Comparison of Cryo, RF, microwave ablation in creating liver & renal thermal lesions
•   Evaluation of RF ablation in ablation of uterine leiomyomas
II. COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY:
•   Efficacy of Multi-detector CT in diagnosis of pancreatic lesions
•   Efficacy of routine helical CT in the evaluation of acute appendicitis
•   CT colonography: improved techniques and comparison to conventional colonoscopy for lesion detection
III. COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY AND MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING:
•   Utility of CT and MR imaging in quantifying hepatic steatosis and minimizing liver biopsies in living related liver transplant donors
•   Efficacy of CT Angiography and MR Angiography in living related renal and liver transplant donors
IV. MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING:
•   Evaluation of MR contrast: Gd DTPA, ferumoxides and GD-EOB
•   Assessment of MR imaging, MR Spectroscopy and MRA in Prostate Imaging
•   Assessment of diffusion weighting, parallel and diffusion tensor techniques in hepatic MR
•   Effectiveness of MR in assessment of pelvic floor disorders
