International medical graduates must submit ECFMG Status Report and California Evaluation Status Letter in addition to the above documents.

The UCLA Department of Radiological Sciences offers a 4-year residency training program in Diagnostic Radiology, including all aspects of medical imaging. The program currently has 48 resident positions and is conducted at 5 major teaching hospitals within and associated with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Rotating through all 5 facilities, the resident gains a broad exposure to all types of disorders, both the commonplace and unusual. The 48-month program leads to eligibility for examination and certification by the American Board of Radiology.



Clinical Education includes:

  • Conferences & Lectures in radiological physics, radiobiology, nuclear medicine and all sub- specialties in diagnostic radiology
  • Workstation Viewing teaching in a one-to-one fashion by the faculty
  • Supervision and training while learning special procedures
  • Rotations through each of the following: abdominal imaging, genitourinary radiology, breast imaging, emergency medicine, musculoskeletal radiology, thoracic imaging, neuroradiology, non- invasive cardiovascular imaging, vascular interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, pediatric radiology and ultrasonography
  • Training in Computed Tomography & Magnetic Resonance Imaging is integrated with the work in each of the subspecialty sections of the Department, i.e., Thoracic Imaging, Musculoskeletal Radiology, etc.

Research Oppertunities:

Residents are encouraged to engage in investigative projects under faculty supervision. Research opportunities are available throughout the four years of residency training.


UCLA research facilities include:
  • Leo G. Rigler Center for Radiologic Research,
    which has its own personnel and equipment for performing all types of imaging procedures, including nuclear medicine, interventional, ultrasound, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.
  • Thoracic Research Core
  • Clinical Image Processing Laboratory
